Kobe Bryant’s prom date, Brandy, breaks silence on NBA star’s death

At the age of 17, Kobe Bryant famously took R&B singer and sitcom star, Brandy, to his prom. While the two went on a few follow-up dates, they ultimately decided to remain friends.

The “Almost Doesn’t Count” songstress is now mourning the loss of the NBA great and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, sending her condolences to Bryant’s wife, Vanessa and their family.

“Never will I understand,” the revered songstress captioned a photo of Bryant and Gigi. “My condolences to @vanessabryant, and all families who are in pain during this tragic time. Love ♥️ #Mamba #Mambacita.”

Bryant and Gigi were killed in a helicopter crash along with 7 other people last Sunday. His widow, Vanessa, recently thanked fans of the late NBA baller for their condolences, writing on Instagram,

“We are completely devastated by the sudden loss of my adoring husband, Kobe — the amazing father of our children; and my beautiful, sweet Gianna — a loving, thoughtful, and wonderful daughter, and amazing sister to Natalia, Bianka, and Capri.
